Celebrate Freedom-On the road

She lives in the Vieux Carre' district at the corner of  Royal Street and Dumaine Street.
Her second floor apartment is next door to Madame John's Legacy.
I first saw her at the Cafe' Du Monde, having her afternoon coffee. From the start she was a delight in her conversation.
Never once did I think she befit the name the locals gave her..."Luppie." She asked me if I was free? "Of course", I said. And as any good psychologist would do I quickly asked, "Do you feel free?"
She smiled through her Rouge lips and told me she had been free all her life. She continued...
"One day on the play ground after being laughed at for my choice of attire, I decided to own my weirdness. At that moment I lost the worlds expectations...and became free." She gave a tug on her silk dress and said, "Freedom to be yourself is your birth right...don't you think?"
It was a warm wonderful afternoon. As I reached her door for my departure, she stopped me with her words...
"Ego...you do know freedom is for the brave, don't you?"

Her name is Madame Clare'

Happy Fourth!

  1. This was a terrific story....loved the punch line. A "masterpiece" in itself...:Freedom is for the brave! ...Be brave and be yourself...
